Cut paper stencil #1

8×10″ cut paper stencil
I am preparing a series of stencils for use in the current Strathmore Online Workshop devoted to doodling and mix media and also for use with a 8×10″ Gelli printmaking plate.
Today’s is a series of circular doodles divided into five parts, an idea adopted from five-petalled flowers used in Japanese cut paper stencils as used in yuzen and Kaga yuzen stencil-dyeing of fabric. Overall geometric designs in komon Japanese printed cloth (usually white pattern on dark blue) come in small (tiny patterns) and large (much larger surface designs) – today’s is the large variety.
