Plein air figure drawing. Prince Alfred Park.

November 2, 2011

Lots of squiggles with a 9B pencil on hard-surfaced bond paper, but at dusk, dogs and their owners meet for dog socialising at Prince Alfred Park, Sydney. Dog socialising and off-leash areas are an important facet of urban life these days. The advantage for sketchers is that the people will hold a standing (or lying) pose momentarily while they watch their dogs. The over-large coats and over-long shorts skew things somewhat (that’s my excuse, anyway).

The Usk second Int’al Conference teachers advised participants about the need to actively memorise postures, something I’m not applying currently!
