Darling Harbour Boat Show

October 13, 2012

60mins, morning, standing up, juggling pencils, tinted charcoal and watercolour. High vantage point from Pyrmont Bridge, creating the inviting pattern of the hulls contrasting with brilliant colours of their shadows in the water. Sketched less than sight-size, which permitted the Maritime Museum lighthouse and Balmain horizon but restricted the fine detail. Would have liked to include the detail of the east side running towards the Maritime Services tower and east Darling Harbour on the other page of this double-spread.

Further 30mins of the pattern of the boat hulls in black-and-white. The boats moved imperceptibly and I would have liked to have differentiate them a bit more, considering the shadows in the water cast a range of colours.

A Sydney Sketch Club meetup event, coinciding with an international sketchcrawl event.
